WEBINAR REPORT ON TMD DEMYSTIFIED

The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics in association with IOS and BOSG organised a Webinar series titled TMD Demystified- ‘An Orthodontic Perspective’ with Dr. Abhijit Gune as the resource person on 18 & 19 August 2021.

Dr.Abhijit Gune completed his Masters in Dentistry, Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics from S.D.M. College of Dental Sciences, Dharwad ,Karnataka went on to complete his DDS from California (USA) and is currently a private practitioner who has specialized in Temporomandibular Joint dysfunctions in his private practice.  

The programme was conducted on IOS Zoom Platform and was awarded two CDE points by KSDC. It was a one-hour webinar that started at 9:30am and ended at 10.30am on day 1 and day 2. We had around 320 participants that included both teaching faculty and post-graduate students from all over the country.

The eminent speaker was introduced by the Principal & HOD of Department of Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics Dr. Vinaya S Pai. The programme was also addressed by the IOS President Dr Silju Mathew, IOS Secretary Dr.Sridevi Padmanabhan and Senior Orthodontist Dr. V.P Jayade as Panelist.

The highlights of the program were understanding the anatomy of TMJ and its disorder, which gave an insight on various TMD and its etiological factors. He also shared his knowledge and experience in Management of the temporomandibular joint disorders.

The guest lecture was followed by an interactive question and answer session moderated by Dr. Shreyas Rajaram and Dr. Manjunath Hegde.
